Receipt Scanning

Receipt Scanning involves capturing a digital copy of a receipt or invoice from a supplier. I can be performed via inbound email or by taking a picture using a receipt scanning app on your iPhone or Android smart phone.

The purpose is to have a copy of your receipt when you need it for the ATO or when asked for evidence by your bookkeeper, BAS agent or Accountant.

Receipt Capture and Storage are the main promoted features of these apps right now but they set the business up to be able to automatically extract important data and even code it in their accounting software in the future.
